Donations to National Suit Drive are distributed to local nonprofit organizations around the country that prepare men and women to reenter the job market through resume-building workshops, interview preparation, and skills-training programs. Since donations stay local, community members need to donate so that nonprofit organizations in their area can help neighbors in need.

With only two days left, here’s how Americans can help:

  • More Than Just Suits: National Suit Drive accepts gently used professional attire, including shirts, jackets, ties, belts, shoes, and suits.
  • Women’s Attire: Women’s professional clothing is also accepted for National Suit Drive.
  • A Big Need: Dress shoes, and big and tall and plus-size business attire, are in especially high demand, according to National Suit Drive’s nonprofit partners.
  • No Donation Is Too Small: Whether it’s one tie or four suits, every donation helps. No matter how big or small the contribution, all donors will receive a coupon for 50% off the regular price of all retail items (excluding shoes and Everyday Low Price items) for their next Men’s Wearhouse purchase as well as a tax receipt.
  • Share Socially: Check out National Suit Drive on the Men’s Wearhouse Facebook tab and join the conversation on Twitter with #giveasuit. For every National Suit Drive mention on Facebook and Twitter, Men’s Wearhouse will contribute $1 (up to $25,000) to the cause.

In 2012, the Men’s Wearhouse National Suit Drive hopes to collect 110,000 items of professional attire. To donate clothing to the National Suit Drive, patrons may go to any one of more than 900 Men’s Wearhouse and Men’s Wearhouse and Tux stores across the country to contribute their gently used business attire. For every suit donated, Men’s Wearhouse will give two business ties to the cause.

Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman, Tyler Perry, Amanda Seyfried, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are among the stars who selected professional suits to inspire looks to be donated to National Suit Drive. Their generosity will help men in need transition back into the work force in each celebrity’s hometown.

To accompany their suit donations, celebrities wrote notes of encouragement to an unemployed man in need. Highlights include:

  • TV star Neil Patrick Harris sent good wishes along with his donation, writing, “Congrats on the new duds. Suit up!” Harris donated a modern-fit suit, in line with his legendary “How I Met Your Mother” character, Barney Stinson.
*Actor, director and producer Tyler Perry helped unemployed men by donating a two-button gray suit with pink tie and wrote, “You can get this done!”
  • “I love picking out ties,” said actress Amanda Seyfried, while she was styling a look to donate to National Suit Drive. Her words of encouragement: “You look great. Go get ’em.”
  • Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson donated a suit and joked, “Wear this [suit] with clean underwear.”

“It’s commendable to have celebrities support the National Suit Drive,” said Steven Cook, Vice President of Corporate Giving at Men’s Wearhouse. “These stars are giving men in communities around America confidence by donating a suit, with the added benefit of personalizing the donation with their own words of encouragement. Our local community partners are hoping the celebrity-inspired looks will motivate their neighbors to clean out their closets and donate as well.”

Americans have until July 31 to help men in their local communities by donating gently used professional attire. Donations are accepted at more than 900 Men’s Wearhouse and Men’s Wearhouse and Tux stores around the country. Men’s and women’s suits, shirts, jackets, ties, belts, and shoes are accepted.

All donated garments are distributed to local nonprofit partners that prepare men and women to re-enter the job market through resume-building workshops, interview preparation, and skills training programs. For every suit donated, Men’s Wearhouse will give two business ties to the cause. As a thank-you for their generosity, Men’s Wearhouse will give donors a 50% off coupon for their next purchase of regular-priced merchandise (excluding shoes and Everyday Low Price items) and a tax receipt.

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) July 19, 2012

This July, Crosspoint, Inc., a facility for formerly incarcerated individuals and Veterans, is partnering with Men’s Wearhouse for the fifth annual National Suit Drive, the nation’s largest collection of gently used business attire for men. Together, they are encouraging residents in the San Antonio community to transform their unwanted business wear into a fresh start for disadvantaged Crosspoint, Inc., clients facing joblessness.

“We are thrilled to partner with Men’s Wearhouse to continue fighting for this cause,” said Kevin J. Downey Ph.D, CEO of Crosspoint, Inc. “Many men are still struggling, despite the slowly recovering economy, and the National Suit Drive is the local community’s chance to help.”

Although the national unemployment rate has begun to decline, 12.5 million Americans are still out of work, and many are feeling discouraged. The clothing they receive through the National Suit Drive gives them a confident first step toward a second chance. Partnering nonprofit organizations such as Crosspoint, Inc. provide essential skills and training that will help transform these men on their journey to self-sufficiency.

Nationally, Men’s Wearhouse hopes to collect more than 110,000 articles of professional clothing to benefit charities like Crosspoint, Inc. Last year Crosspoint, Inc. was able to collect 200 articles of clothing and help a large number of Crosspoint, Inc. clients get a chance to find their strong suit and get back to work.

During the National Suit Drive, people can raise awareness by visiting the Men’s Wearhouse Facebook tab to share images and videos and to track donations with a live donations counter. They can also follow the conversation on Twitter @MensWearhouse for real-time updates with the # of suits given. For every suit donated, Men’s Wearhouse will give two business ties to the cause. As a thank you, donors will receive a coupon for 50% off all regular-priced items (excluding shoes) for their next Men’s Wearhouse purchase, as well as a tax receipt.
